Hilliard Davidson edges Beavercreek
Hilliard Davidson’s defense and special teams came through in the clutch to preserve a 14-13 nonleague victory over visiting Beavercreek.
Beavercreek was trailing 14-7 when Mike Berry threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to David Tipton. The Beavers elected to go for the victory, but Arius Moore’s two-point conversion run was stuffed by a host of Davidson defenders. Davidson’s Brett Annis then secured the onside kick for the victory.
The Wildcats (2-1) took a fourth-quarter lead with four minutes remaining when E.J. Jennings scored on a 2-yard run for his second touchdown.
Jennings, who gained 87 yards on 19 carries, also scored from 5 yards in the first quarter.
Berry led Beavercreek (1-2) with 136 rushing yards, including a 12-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.
