Hilliard runs away will OCC Ohio crown
Host Hilliard last night won its seventh straight game - and the Ohio Capital Conference Ohio Division title - as Dre Williams and Durance Mitchell combined for 332 yards rushing in a 23-6 win over Westerville North.
Williams rolled up 193 yards on only seven carries and Mitchell added 139 yards on 21 attempts, giving him a school-record 1,589 yards for the season.
Hilliard (7-3, 7-0) scored on its first two possessions to take a 13-0 lead. Williams had an 82-yard run on the Wildcats’ first play to set up Mitchell’s 4-yard scoring run, then scored on a 14-yard run late in the quarter.
The Wildcats made it 20-0 at halftime on a 6-yard pass from Sean Pitts to Ryan Greer. Jason Martin rushed for 92 yards and scored in the fourth quarter for North (5-5, 4-3), which was stopped on downs three times.
